In the manga, She was traveling with Sasuke and she got pregnant. The village was still far so they had no choice but to go to Orochimaru's hideout and Sakura gave birth to Sarada there. Karin delivered and kept the umbilical cord as a keepsake and she also gave the glasses to Sarada.
